Incorporating an array of live instrumentation, found-sounds and soulful electronics – the production terrain of the record shifts towards diverse musical exploration, anchored within head-nodding, soul shaking beats.
An LP of inimitable storytelling and unique production, Divas and Demons features some of Australia’s brightest hip-hop and soul artists. Simon Mavin (Hiatus Kaiyote), Sampa Tembo (Sampa the Great), Jordan Rakei, Baro, Silent Jay, Tom Scott (Average Rap Band), Lorry (Hiatus Kaiyote), Nui Moon and Cazeaux O.S.L.O. (Man Made Mountain) all lend their talents to various moments throughout the record.

Everybody fucks up sometimes, but we rarely talk about why and what the consequences are. I was a bad man and I felt like a piece of shit for stepping out. For Good is a step-by-step ‘Outcomes of cheating on your lady'. Much love to my sister Sampa The Great for blessing the track with soul and perspective. Every collab on this record is special to me, and Sampa was the first one who showed me just how dope this record could be with some outside involvement. Her passion for music, her people and social change is addictive. I’ve never met someone so untainted by bullshit and so in touch with what is actually important. I wanted to do a track where I would actually want to play out when I dj, so kept it simple, 4 to the floor, played some afrobeat esq guitar….. full disclosure, I had to get Remi to help "mute" the strings while I was "playing" the guitar, cos that strum is bloody tricky for me OK! Beatmakers out there, I programmed the kick and snare on the MPC, did some live claps, and added live hi-hats and crashes to make it seem like the whole track is on a drum kit. SECRETSSSS. Simon Mavin graciously re-played my crappy Rhodes playing, and added his own touch and crazy-ass sounds. PS Sampa I love you. - Sensible J
